FEA

Feature recognition reduces the complexity of the part model before it passes through finite element analysis (FEA).

Feature suppression
An important step in the process of finite element analysis (FEA) is simplification of the part model prior to analysis. This is required since there always exist some features on the part, such as small holes and fillets, that are insignificant from the analysis point of view, but which complicate matters during mesh generation. It would be convenient to have a set of tools to help reduce complexity of the part model before it can be passed through FE analysis.
The feature recognition (FR) technology helps here by automatically recognizing holes, fillets and chamfers, so that a user identified subset of such features can be suppressed prior to mesh generation and analysis.
